a fit of hysterics
Okay, so maybe it wasn't exactly a conniption, but when I came into Cam's room after his nap and found him like this . . .

. . . I may have had a little bit of a freak-out session. Yes he is leaning over the railing of his crib; and in case you're wondering, yes we raised his railing. Whew, he is a crazy little boy.
He has started to do a glorified crawl-not quite a real crawl, but boy does he get around quickly! I have new-found respect for all those crazy mothers out there who I have seen frantically chasing their children around. Cameron is already a lot like I imagine his dad was at this age. He seems so chill, then all of a sudden his little personality breaks through and he's crazy. WE LOVE IT!

His favorite game is peek-a-boo and gets a kick seeing Mark and me make fools of ourselves. Pretty sure that's the only reason he ever laughs-because we look so silly to him. One can't help but make themselves look like loonies in front of babies.

Some of you might be under the impression that pizza is not blog worthy. I feel bad for you :) Mark and I made this pizza earlier this week and we're still smiling about it!

I would really like a recipe for a white sauce to go on pizza. If any of you have great recipes, I'd love to hear about it!
What a little daredevil! I'm glad you caught him before a fall might have happened!
ReplyDeleteAnd your pizza looks delicious!
The basic white sauce recipe I always use is:
1 garlic clove, minced
2 Tablespoons butter
1 oz. Parmesan cheese (about 1/4 cup)
4-6 oz. heavy cream (about 1/2 cup)
Black pepper to taste
Throw everything into a small sauce pan on medium-low heat until the cream thickens. (Note: Careful so the sauce NEVER boils. Boiling changes the protein structure in dairy, so you'll end up with coagulated "bits" in your cream sauce.)
So, this recipe looks familiar? That's because it's a basic ALFREDO SAUCE with garlic in. Omit the garlic and dump this stuff over a mixture of pasta, veggies and diced chicken. I'll tell you, it's DIVINE. And yes, the heavy cream is absolutlely necessary. Don't even think about using half-and-half...the entirety white sauce pizza-future depends on it. ;)
Oh, I forgot. If you're using the alfredo sauce for pasta, remember to whisk in a small ladel full of pasta water into the sauce before serving. That'll keep it from getting that "sticky" consistency that seems to turn up in a lot of from-scrach alfredo pasta sauces.
ReplyDeletewhat a cutie little boy! Oh how I wish we could come play. Please let us play with you soon :) We won't be here much longer and I really want to play before we leave.
ReplyDeleteHow cute! I love his big brown eyes!
